A Scared Nudge from Spirit to Finally Share My Voice

Or How a Spiritually, Slightly Sweaty Woman Over 50 Hit “Publish” Anyway

Well hey there, kindred spirit—welcome.

However you landed here—following a hunch, chasing curiosity, or answering a quiet nudge from the Universe—I’m so glad you did. Maybe it was divine timing, maybe just a lucky scroll. Either way, The Soulful Journal is my heart space, and I’m truly grateful you’re here.

Truth? Hitting publish on my blog is a new journey for me. It’s that mix of excitement and nerves—like butterflies doing cartwheels in your belly. But sometimes spirit whispers louder than fear, and here we are. So if you're new to this whole spiritual thing or already fluent in crystals and card pulls you belong here. This is a leap-of-faith kind of journey—and we’re walking it together.

Now take a breath and say it with me…“Alright, Universe—I’m ready.”

Healer, Teacher, Artist… and Still Can’t Keep Houseplants Alive

I wasn’t always grounded—or even remotely aware of what a chakra was. Back then, my spiritual toolkit mostly consisted of coffee, chocolate, and the hope that I’d remembered to put on deodorant (pretty sure I did... most days).

Like so many women, I was doing my best to juggle it all: show up at work, be a nurturing mom, keep the house running, and and keeping the plants alive long enough to not be considered houseplant homicide. Meditation? Yoga? Deep breathing? That all sounded like a luxury reserved for someone with, you know… free time.

And then there’s this major piece of my path: I’m the proud mom of an incredible autistic son. His early years were therapy sessions, navigating school systems, advocating fiercely—while still learning what autism even meant. I became a master chef at reading labels for food sensitivities and decoding the mysteries of meltdowns. His twin sister came along for the ride too, which meant double the love… and double the demands.

Somewhere in the middle of it all—my marriage ended. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was also in perimenopause. So in addition to the heartbreak and healing, my hormones decided to throw in their own wild subplot. Cue hot flashes, mood swings, and the kind of tears that show up uninvited when ordering a grande latte.

All of it—motherhood, menopause, major life transitions—pushed me to the edge. And that edge is exactly where I cracked open and found something more.

I started putting myself first—for once—and honestly, it was the most beautiful, selfish thing I could’ve done. Instead of slipping into auto-pilot as the fixer, giver, and constant caregiver, I began tuning into me during the quiet moments. I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for—I just knew I wanted to feel like myself again… whoever that even was. Because somewhere along the way, I’d forgotten.

I dabbled in different ways to meditate, letting it be messy and real. Then I found kindred spirits at a women’s retreat—soulful seekers just like me, on their own winding paths. That experience opened the door to Reiki, Oracle, and Tarot, where I felt an undeniable spark. Through those practices, I uncovered a deeper connection to healing energy—and to myself. Somewhere along the way, I realized the energy healer had always been within me. I just needed space to grow and glow.

And now? I feel deeply called to speak even more directly to women. Maybe you're like me—over 50 riding the hormone rollercoaster, rediscovering who you are after the careers, the relationships, the kids, or the caregiving. Regardless of where you are in your journey, if your spark felt a little dim or you feel like you’ve been standing in the shadows too long, this is your invitation to grow, glow, and honour all the awesome parts of you. I will walk with you, heart open and ready to guide what’s next while I remember to water the plants.

Why I’m Blogging (Besides Having A Lot To Say)

I like to think of this blog as a cozy, candle-lit corner of the internet—a place where you can exhale, breathe deeply, and feel your spirit gently held. I’m here to share what’s helped me, what I’m still learning, and all the magic I’ve gathered along the way.

This blog is for:
  • Women who feel like everything—body, hormones, and soul—is lost, and no one gave them the roadmap.

  • Women seeking holistic wellness—not unrealistic perfection but sustainable well-being practices.

  • The spiritually curious women who know there’s more to life than just pushing through, and want to feel connected, inspired, and supported especially if you are going through the "pause" years.

I’ll be sharing:
  • Mindful health tips that blend science and soul (because turmeric lattes and chakras have a place here).

  • Energetic healing tools to balance your nervous system and restore your radiance.

  • Creative inspiration—because midlife is the perfect time to reconnect with your inner artist, dancer, dreamer, or wild woman.

  • Insights on perimenopause & menopause that make you feel seen, not sidelined.

This space is for you if:
  • You seek deeper connection with your intuition, your energy, and your true self.

  • You’re on a journey of healing—emotionally, energetically, physically—and want to feel seen and encouraged.

  • You desire nourishment for the soul bringing a few cosmic winks along the way.

What the Universe (and My Chai Latte) Told Me to Share

Expect a soulful blend of:

  • Spiritual teachings and heart reflections

  • Energy healing wisdom for real-life moments (yes, even the ones where you lose your sh*t!)

  • Nourishing practices—meditations, intuitive tools, sacred routines, healthy food

  • Creative offerings that channel guidance through colour and emotion

And of course—humour, honesty, and permission to be fully human while still reaching for the divine.

A Few Final Musings

Beginning this blog feels a bit like stepping onto a new hiking trail — unsure of what’s ahead, maybe a little bumpy, but trust to be guided by something that feels deeply right in my soul..

I’m so grateful for you being here. We’re in this messy, magical next chapter together and the journey is awesome—like you. You’re taking the first steps and that is all that matters.

If this post spoke to your soul, I’d love to hear from you in the comments or subscribe for more soul-nourishing stories.

Keep growing, keep glowing, keep coming home to you.
